AN ACT CONCERNING THE SALE AND TRADE OF IVORY AND RHINOCEROS HORN IN THE STATE.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to prohibit the sale of ivory and rhinoceros horn in the state while preserving the commercial viability of the antiques industry in the state.

Statement of Purpose:

To prohibit the sale and trade of ivory and rhinoceros horn in the state while preserving the antiques trade in Connecticut.

Commentary

Although this gives lip service to preserving the trade of antiques, this bill does not specify how it will do so and ignores the viable trade of legally imported ivory in the United States.
